Business Objects has announced two big acquisitions. First, they're buying SRC Software, which makes IT forecasting and planning tools, for $100 million. Second, they're buying Infommersion, which makes data visualization software, for $40 million. Both are all-cash deals for the business intelligence specialist, whose officials previously insisted they didn't need to expand and even mocked competitor Cognos for getting involved with such products. Whether Business Objects is open-minded or hypocritical is for customers to decide.
