BEA acquires Flashline for service capabilities

BEA Systems is acquiring Flashline, which makes metadata repository software, for an undisclosed amount. BEA says that the software is needed to help companies manage a growing number of code snippets for use with service architectures. Flashline's software will be renamed AquaLogic Enterprise Repository and, presumably, it will be integrated with the rest of the AquaLogic's look and feel (no timeline was given). The software complements but does not replace BEA's existing AquaLogic Service Registry, they said. (Readers, are you really doing enough with services to need special management tools? Email me)
