AVG LinkScanner now available as a free browser plug-in
AVG Technologies has launched AVG LinkScanner as a free, stand-alone product. LinkScanner can operate independently with other competing software and works by looking at the webpage behind a link or a web address that is typed into a browser. Where a threat is detected, the application will stop the user from downloading that page.
The software analyzes webpages through search results from Google, Yahoo! and MSN, generating rankings that appear as either green or red flags beside the result. The flags indicate whether it is safe to click through or not. In addition, LinkScanner will also scan your bookmarks as well as links contained in instant messages and emails before you open them. The free application is available for download now on the AVG site here.
