Traveling to Australia any time soon? Well, you might just want to be aware that beyond the rudimentary declaration of boring items such as plants and seeds; a new checkbox quietly introduced in the country's Incoming Passenger Cards last September means that you will have to make a declaration if you are carrying any pornography--even if its on an electronic device.

The Australian Sex Party (no kidding) first spotted this subtle modification, and brought it to the attention of The Sydney Morning Herald, the national paper. And despite what some of you might be thinking at the moment, pornography itself is not illegal in Australia.

When quizzed, the official statement by a customs spokesperson to the Herald was: "Including an express reference to pornography is intended to enhance the interception of prohibited pornography at the border, by making passengers aware that some forms of pornography may be a prohibited import."

This has repercussions beyond trying to explain to your mom or wife about your private magazine collection however, which I'll explore in today's editorial.
