Asus Eee PC boots up quick, packs built-in apps
Speaking of the OLPC XO, anyone remember the Eee PC from Asus, the device that "slaughters the OLPC with ease," according to George Ou? Well, the folks over at Notebook Review got their hands on the tiny device and for the most part, they seem quite impressed. In line with Asus' claims, the machine was found to boot into its customized Linux OS "in about 10 seconds flat," while requiring only half as much time to shutdown. While no speed demon, the tiny Eee's was found to contain a more than adequate collection of built-in apps, which the reviewer characterized as able to "definitely serve all of your basic needs." If a tiny, quick-booting Linux notebook sounds like your thing, check out the full hands-on for more info.
