Apple: Windows 7 an opportunity to sell more Macs

With the official general availability of Windows 7 just next week, one would expect rival Apple to be nervous over the prospect that the real improvements in Windows 7 will gnaw at its market share. However, this does not appear to be the case, according to this report by CNET News.

CNET spoke to Brian Croll, Apple's vice president of Mac OS X worldwide product marketing. According to Croll, "Users are really growing tired of Windows and the headaches it brings." Apple's opinion is that the frustration of users boils down to an accumulation of issues over the multiple iterations of Windows.

Ultimately, the need to reformat and reinstall various applications and associated updates may be beyond what users are prepared to handle. Croll elaborated, "We think a lot of folks will look at that as the straw that broke the camel's back...people are tired of the headaches with Windows and this is another great excuse for people to check out the Mac."

So it's not about how good Windows 7 is, but the fact that many users might simply not be willing to even give it a spin. Have you contemplated a switch?
