Apple, NSA team for OS 10.4 security guide
Yesterday, we reported on Apple's renewed push into the enterprise, which will culminate in a number of IT sessions at this year's World Wide Developers Conference. Of course, there are a number of aspects of the Mac platform that IT departments will have to evaluate before seriously considering the switch, chief among them being security. Is OS X inherently more secure or is the lack of viruses on the Mac a happy coincidence, resulting from the platform's small installed user base? Apple would like to convince you otherwise and to that end, has released an exhaustive guide in conjunction with the National Security Administration (NSA), detailing every aspect of security in OS 10.4 and instructing Mac admins on how to best secure the platform. It's a good read for anyone considering making a case for Macs in the enterprise and could certainly come in handy for Mac admins who deal with security.
