As expected (though admittedly, a bit sooner than any of us had thought) Apple has unleashed new MacBooks and as expected, they're a bit of a snooze. Apple's low-end notebooks now sport Intel Core 2 Duo processors ranging from 2.0Ghz to 2.16Ghz in speed, with the same old 667MHz FSB in tow. That's right, minimal speed bumps and no Santa Rosa, although we've been expecting that Intel's latest-greatest would show up in the Pro line first. The MacBooks now ship with an 80GB drive, draft-802.11n, though that's pretty much the standard nowadays. The MacBooks are available now from Apple, starting at the familiar price point of $1,100. What of the new MacBook Pros with LED-backlit screens and Santa Rosa? Expect them at WWDC next month.
