Apple has a very happy holiday

Apple has made some incredible gains during the last few years both in terms of their Mac and consumer electronics lines, transforming a company that was once near bankruptcy into a profitable powerhouse. And cash flow isn't the only area where Apple is seeing growth--according to the most recent stats, OS X's marketshare saw some pretty huge gains over the course of 2007--especially during the holiday season. According to Net Applications, OS X marketshare grew more than 14 percent over the course of 2007. While that's certainly impressive, the company saw even bigger growth during the month of December. Mac marketshare jumped to 8.01 percent at the end of December 2007, up more than 18 percent from 6.80 percent marketshare during the previous month. Meanwhile, iPhone marketshare jumped from .09 percent in November to .17 percent during the last days of December--an 89 percent increase. Seems like more than a few folks might have found MacBooks and iPhones underneath the Christmas tree this year, eh? "Apple's market share gains in December for the Mac and iPhone are impressive," Net Applications writes in its report. "However, for the last days of December, the numbers are nothing short of spectacular."
