Apple goes touch crazy, preps touch mouse
First there was the touch-screen iPhone, then there were rumors of touch-screen Macs and now, it looks like Apple is prepping a touchscreen mouse. In a recent patent filing, Apple revealed the design for what might be the successor to the Mighty Mouse: a completely buttonless mouse that uses touch sensors to sense your every move. The mouse would be "capable of switching between operational modes based on the way a user holds or grips the enclosure," which means that it would react differently to touches depending on how it was held. Hold the mouse one way and it will scroll, hold it another way and it will click. It's an interesting idea and hopefully, it will be better executed than the much-hated Mighty Mouse.
