Well, Windows Vista is finally out, as we reported yesterday. And Microsoft seems to think that we're all giddy with anticipation to deploy the OS to end-users. Ask yourself this, though: Would you deploy a car with no locks? Probably not. How about a Vista with no security? As of press time, only one vendor, McAfee, has a Vista-compatible security product available, while Symantec, Trend Micro and CA are still scrambling to have solutions ready for early 2007. "The absence of security software from the major vendors will be another reason why business will not migrate to Vista right away," said Natalie Lambert, an analyst at Forrester Research. Sure, Microsoft claims that Vista is the most secure Windows yet, but do you really want to take their word for it?
