Analysts see big HP changes from Hurd

Are layoffs of 7,500 to 15,000 people imminent at Hewlett-Packard? That's the buzz, and the axe will probably fall later this month when the quarter ends but ahead of HP customer events, analysts say. However, the rumors about any spin-outs or big acquisitions seems to have quieted. It's not clear if HP is trying to be more like Dell or IBM. Trying to emulate both is what caused trouble in the first place.
