AMD quad-core lineup revealed

If similarly-named publication DailyTech knows the score, AMD's new quad-core lineup might be just around the corner. Allegedly, the company will start shipping Phenom-branded quad-core chips this summer, with a 2.4-2.6Ghz chip in the high-end slot and a 2.2-2.4Ghz chip right below it. Both chips will bear the "Phenom X4" designation. For power-users, AMD will have a high-end "Phenom FX chip," which users can pair for 8-core performance. The Phenom FX chips will also ship this summer, to be followed by mid-level X4 quads later in the year. It's worth noting, however, that all of this advance info comes courtesy of a leaked roadmap, so take these chips with the appropriate grain of salt until AMD makes an official announcement.
