AMD continues to nip at Intel's heels

Bitter rivals Intel and AMD pulled the old switcheroo during the third quarter of this year, with Intel regaining server market share that it had lost to AMD while AMD made big gains in notebook processors. Out of all x86 processors shipped during the third quarter, 76.1 percent were Intel while 23.3 percent were manufactured by AMD. That represents continued growth for AMD--which is good news for enterprise buyers. After all, as competition between the two silicon giants heats up, prices will continue to fall.
