Adobe warns of critical flaws in Adobe Reader 9 and Acrobat 9
Critical security flaws in Adobe Reader 9 and Acrobat 9 are currently being exploited by hackers. Apparently, the vulnerability also affects earlier versions of the popular PDF software, and can result in an application crash and a remote compromise of a user's machine.
At the moment, Adobe is scrambling to provide a security update, promising to have one for Adobe Reader 9 and Acrobat 9 by March 11. After that, patches for earlier versions will be made available all the way to Adobe Reader 7 and Acrobat 7. According to security vendor McAfee, the attack is being targeted only against a few government agencies and large corporations, though new variants of this exploit could well make the rounds as more information pertaining to the exploit becomes public.
