Adobe to push out new Acrobat security patches today
Hackers are using malicious PDF documents to break into Windows PCs, says Adobe. The company made the admission even as it promised to patch a newly uncovered security flaw in its popular PDF reader software today, the same day that Microsoft will be releasing its largest Patch Tuesday ever.
In a security advisory last week, Adobe described the latest flaw as affecting version 9.1.3 of Acrobat on Windows, Mac OS and Linux.
Adobe was quick to add that the exploit it has spotted in the wild involves Adobe Reader and Acrobat 9.1.3 on the Windows platform only and in "limited targeted attacks." According to Adobe, today's patch will be part of its quarterly security update and will also resolve an unknown number of other vulnerabilities.
