802.11n WLAN getting more affordable

A slew of new, low-priced 802.11n hardware is being introduced by vendors such as D-Link and Enterasys, among other vendors.  Downturn or not, this can only help to quicken the high-throughput WLAN standard that is becoming mainstream. D-Link, for example, has an affordable 802.11n access point targeted at small and medium businesses that costs just $180.

On the enterprise front, Enterasys has announced its two-radio HiPath Wireless 802.11n access point. The gear comes with two radios--one runs in the 2.4 GHz band while the other runs in 5 GHz. It's offered at a "limited time" price of $665. This AP is able to run at full load over an existing 802.3af PoE line, which will eliminate the need for additional upgrade to the power infrastructure.
