'Vista Capable' lawsuit moves forward
Did your organization buy a slew of "Vista Capable" machines, only to find that the PCs were not quite as capable as you expected when running the latest Windows OS? Well, you're not the only one. In a lawsuit brought against the software giant (which has just been granted class action status by a U.S. District Court Judge), consumers claimed that the "Vista Capable" program was misleading and led customers to believe that certain low-end machines were capable of supporting all of Vista's features when they were not. Well, that case has just become quite a bit more interesting, as the case's judge has unsealed 158 pages worth of internal Microsoft emails relating to the case. Among the juicy tidbits? Microsoft executives admitting that, "In the end, we lowered the requirements to help Intel make their quarterly earnings so they could continue to sell motherboards with the 915 graphics embedded." If you purchased machines bearing the "Vista Capable" sticker, it looks like there just might be a payday in your future.
