T-Mobile launching home VoIP service?

Remember T-Mobile's HotSpot@Home program, which allows you to save a few bucks on your cellular bill by routing calls over WiFi for free? Well, if a recent FCC filing from T-Mobile and Linksys offers any indication, landline handsets might be getting in on the action too. The filing shows a T-Mobile-branded Linksys router that has two phone jacks and two SIM card slots on the back. Ostensibly, the SIM card slots would be used to configure the device for T-Mobile's network, while the standard phone jacks would allow you to jack-in a telephono device of your choosing. Does this mean that T-Mobile is getting into the VoIP game or is the company simply going to allow traditional handsets to be used in conjunction with its wVoIP service? It's unclear at this point, though either way, it would make an already sweet deal even sweeter for folks who don't own a landline phone.

For more on the router:
- see this TG Daily article
