Deciding to accept a job offer is more than just determining if the salary figure is acceptable. You want to make sure you like the company, respect its standing in the industry and know you'll be challenged and gain knowledge while on the job. Yet unearthing such relevant information on all those employer aspects isn't often easy unless you know someone well who's already employed in the ranks. But as an article at CIO magazine explains, investigating and learning about a prospective employer's culture can be done with a little work if you know how to listen, read body language and ask a few pertinent questions during the interview process. Every interaction with the prospective employer is an opportunity to glean insight.

IRS CIO Todd Grams has resigned from the IRS to take the role of CFO at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Kurt Woetzel has been tapped to lead the newly created Office of Innovation at The Bank of New York. The CIO has also been named senior executive VP.

Billy Blackwell, currently CIO, has been named chief intelligence officer at Unique Pizza and Subs.

Daniel Sellers, formerly CIO of Hub Group, is now senior VP of parcel solutions at GENCO.

The new CTO at Mavent is Kenneth Taylor, formerly a CIO with Argent Mortgage Company.

Phishing scam uses IRS refund lure

While the big tax day is still nearly two months away, it seems online criminals are using the annual event as their lure in current phishing scams. The emails claim to be coming from the Internal Revenue Service and ask for pertinent personal information to complete 'refund' paperwork. But of course it's just another clever way to try and get confidential data from those online.
