Does Symantec-Juniper deal preface a merger?
Symantec and Juniper Networks announced a marketing and development partnership this week. They said a merger isn't necessary, but were they just floating a trial balloon? It also has packet forwarding and can be used as a multi-service device. But none of this comes cheap, as normal configurations start at $100,000.

The product familes known as SGS and SNS were not doing well financially against hardware giants like Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks and various specialists, so Symantec decided to focus exclusively on management software. Officials said 80 people were laid off because of this, although SGS/SNS customers will still recieve support for an unspecified timeframe.
