Is your office printer secure?

There's a firewall around your computer system. You've spent half your budget on security tools. Your workers are trained to help prevent security lapses. But you forgot one big thing: The office printer.

A printer in your office could be saving all the images of documents that are printed, scanned or faxed on its hard drive. Hackers could come right in and steal this sensitive data because you haven't locked it down.

The security of printers is frequently overlooked, according to ICSA Labs, a security products testing and certifications firm. ICSA is introducing new certification and assessment programs that will address security threats posed by network devices such as printers, fax machines and security cameras, the firm told CSOonline.com.

It's time to plug a hole that may have caused leaks and time for IT executives to recognize that every part of the office can be hacked.
