Women more likely to reveal password

A new British survey is likely to cause a furor everywhere. The poll, by Infosecurity Europe, of 576 office workers found that 45 percent of women revealed their passwords to strangers posing as market researchers, in exchange for a chocolate bar. Comparatively, only 10 percent of men were willing to trade their passwords for the same. While we're not quite sure that this survey is totally accurate, it certainly gives us pause. Every worker must be properly trained to keep their passwords to themselves regardless of the reason--chocolate or anything else. "This research shows that it's pretty simple for a perpetrator to gain access to information that is restricted by having a chat around the coffee machine…or pretending to be from the IT department," said Claire Sellick, event director at Infosecurity Europe, in a statement.
