Windows 8 could be arriving in 2012, according to bloggers who spotted a posting on Microsoft's (NASDAQ: MSFT) Dutch website. While the reference to Windows 8 was quickly taken down, the translated text apparently goes like this: "Furthermore, Microsoft is on course for the next version of Windows. But it will take about two years before 'Windows 8' (sic) on the market." Of course it hardly takes a genius to imagine that Microsoft is working hard on the next iteration of Windows, especially with Windows 7 celebrating its first birthday recently.

Bolstering the interest in Windows though--which still powers the majority of workstations around the world--is the increasing pressure exerted by its competitors such as the Mac OS and the upcoming Chrome OS. Users are no doubt expecting Microsoft to deliver new, truly innovative features to maintain its lead on competitors.
