Windows 7 will not come bundled with email, photo and movie applications

Microsoft told CNET News earlier this week that it has decided to remove software such as Windows Photo Gallery, Windows Mail, and Windows Movie Maker as part of the next version of Windows--or Windows 7. In a follow-up interview, Windows Vista general manager Brian Hall explained that Microsoft made the decision for several reasons, one of which was a desire to issue new operating system releases more quickly than it has in the past. Having Windows Live tools completely separated from the operating system also makes it easier for Microsoft to work with specific partners on these features. I suppose anti-trust rules might have something to do with the decision as well.
