Why IT staff hate their bosses

IT workers tend to blame CIOs for failing to trust the opinions of their staff, instead of being swayed by paid incentives from vendors to try or use their products. Whether or not this is the reality, it is the perception of IT staff within many organizations, and that is a failure of the executive leadership. If your staff can't trust the reasons behind the decisions you've made, how can you expect them to execute against those directives? Instead, engage your technical leadership at the earliest possible stages and actively encourage their participation in the vendor selection process. Then discourage the vendors from extending any incentives that could sway your decision.
