Why Cobol is still a respected technology

If you've heard the rumor that Cobol is pretty much dead, or at least aging gracefully within the confines of IT's infirmary, you heard wrong. It is, however, considered a limiting technology, as it's nearly impossible to integrate with today's snazzy Web-based applications and systems. Yet given that more than a few enterprises are deeply ingrained with Cobol systems and applications, it's very hard to make a business case for a full migration off the platform--and that's why its not going anywhere anytime soon.
