Why biometrics is making inroads
The use of biometrics in everything from computing to food shopping is inching closer to reality. With the increasing need to verify, verify and verify again so that systems and services and data are protected from unauthorized access, the move away from passwords and data points is gaining credence, as it's impossible, at least so far, to duplicate someone's fingerprint or iris scan. If you think it's still stuff for the sci-fi realm, think again, as one company already has 2 million users using fingerprint technology to purchase goods at a store.
