Ultrabooks are slated to dominate the scene in the business tools category at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week. However, the super-thin devices won't be the only cool new gadgets on display that offer the potential for increased productivity.

A host of mobile devices will be in the spotlight at the annual gathering, including Android-powered smartphones and newfangled tablet computers. Manufacturers will do well to show off devices using Android 4.0, saying as little as possible about gear running versions of the operating system, suggests InformationWeek's Eric Zeman.

In the tablet and smartphone arena, quad-core devices are the next big thing, and at least a few vendors should make some news here, Zeman predicts. Be on the lookout for news regarding Windows Phone support for 4G and for some smartphone announcements from Nokia (NYSE: NOK) as well. Undoubtedly there will be a lot of talk about LTE 4G technology in discussions of smartphones and tablets.
