Web browsers put to the test

Adrian Kingsley-Hughes of ZDNet has just added the latest release candidate (RC) of Firefox 3.0, as well as Opera 9.50, to both his periodic Sunspider JavaScript benchmark and the notoriously harsh ACID 3 compatibility test. You might be interested to know that the release candidate versions of Firefox 3.0 came out fastest where the Sunspider JavaScript benchmark is concerned, though the improvement between RC1 and RC3 was marginal at best. Where the ACID 3 compatibility is concerned, Opera 9.5 came out tops in rendering accuracy, a dramatic improvement over the betas. Though it did not perform as well, Firefox 3.0 was only slightly behind Safari 3.1.
