Watch out: The rootkit is coming
Over the next two years, one of the biggest headaches for IT leaders and security teams in will be rootkits, programs that cloak malicious software and allow the malware to go ignored by anti-spyware and anti-virus applications. According to security firm McAfee, it has caught more rootkit components in Trojans and worms in the first quarter of this year than all of last year. In just three years the use of rootkits in nasty code has skyrocketed 600 percent.
