Voter database lacking security controls
An IT audit reveals that Florida's voter registration data and processes are vulnerable to hacking and corruption due to missing security policies and poor access governance rules. The database, called the Florida Voter Registration System (FVRS), was begun in 2003 to comply with the federal Help America Vote Act. It seems that the system, which rolled out this past January, is lacking some basic security protocols such as patch management, system recovery and even virus-protection measures.
