There are more than a few issues within the healthcare sector that need addressing, but a major one that's often overlooked is patient-doctor communications and the big hurdles when language isn't a shared denominator. But one healthcare facility has found a way to clear the obstacle, boosting communications which will definitely improve patient care and medical treatment. A new video and voice application via a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network, featuring consoles within treatment centers, lets doctors access interpreters to help share information with patients who don't speak the same language as the doctor. The new Health Care Interpreter Network is currently being piloted by three California hospitals and handles about 3,000 calls each month.
