A very good time for tech
![]()

It's hard to believe, but plenty of tech companies are strong and doing very well this year despite a disastrous economy and the market meltdown last fall. Just check out BusinessWeek's annual list of top tech companies, and you will see that miracles are possible.
There are some easy winners. Oracle's revenue grew significantly over the past five years and its $7.4 billion acquisition of Sun Microsystems brings it valuable software. Its revenue growth was 12 percent in the past year and its return on equity was 25 percent.
There were some other amazing stories, too. SAP's product revenues plunged 33 percent in the last quarter but services and support helped fill the gap. It still had 13 percent revenue growth and 27 percent return on equity.
One thing is clear: Tech is not dead and when the recession ends, it will come roaring back. - Judi
