Unpatched web browsers a security threat
A new study has found that about 40 percent of Internet users do not have up-to-date, fully patched web browsers, creating a weak link in the security chain that leaves them vulnerable to digital hackers. The study, conducted by researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Google and IBM Internet Security Services, found that users are either slow in applying security patches provided by vendors, or sometimes do not use them at all. Part of the problem, the study said, is that web browser vendors have not exactly made patching easy.
