This won't come as a big shock for those who have been keeping track of all the data theft and laptop losses over the past year but a new report from the House Government Reform Committee puts it on paper, in black and white. Nearly 19 federal agencies have experienced at least one incident of identity information loss since the start of 2003. The scariest part, though, is that many don't even know what information has been lost and how many people could be impacted by the loss. The Department of Commerce alone reported nearly 300 incidents in which personal and confidential data was lost or compromised.
