Twitter ripe for attack

We report this week on the growing popularity of Twitter and the inevitable fallout from it's growth. As Twitter gets more popular, it is more prone to hack attacks and phishing.
That is the downside of growing more popular in the three years since it's been around. But there has to be a way to counter the harsh reality out there: A hacker will look to a popular site to exploit and there is little the site can do.
In this case, there is plenty. Twitter's founders are intent on keeping the attacks to a minimum and moving in quickly to counter any big hack attacks.
Beyond that, Facebook, MySpace and every other social network has dealt with this thorny problem. The advice is simple: Don't just sit there and wait for it to happen. Start working to throw up your firewalls long before it becomes inevitable. - Judi
