In the minds of many corporate leaders, IT is still a cost center. But as CIOs and other tech leaders know, it's really a profit center. The hurdle is pushing that branding as far as possible and changing the mindset in the boardroom. One possible method, recommended by a tech leader, is becoming the top salesman for your IT group. The first step is getting to know and understand your company's product line and how IT innovation can boost the value of those products, thereby increasing the revenue stream. Then its time to get to know the customers who are buying the product--what are their complaints? By deploying new technologies to satisfy those needs and by boosting customer service, IT at your company can become a profit center in no time at all.
