Time Warner ditches AOL

Time Warner is finally unloading AOL after years of disappointing efforts to remake the online business.

When they came together, the two companies said the deal would create "the world's first fully integrated media and communications company for the Internet Century." But, after merging with Time Warner in 2000, the company has had a difficult time becoming such a mega-media titan. Now times have changed, and Time Warner wants to continue reshaping itself without the drag of AOL.
