Time to ditch that "sent from my mobile device" email signature?
It may be time to ditch that "sent from my mobile device" email signature, if you're still using one, opines Al Sacco on CIO. Such mobile-device email signatures "are now so common that most of us barely even notice them," and if the goal is to implicitly alert recipients to the fact that the messages were crafted on-the-go, to excuse typos or poor grammar, Sacco suggests holding off until you can write an error-free, more professional message.
I fully agree with Sacco, and I've always removed the signature from my own smartphones. While such email signatures may have helped present a more professional outlook in the past, the fact that seemingly everyone is using a smartphone device these days only makes it appear tacky or amateurish.
Do you agree that this email signature is outdated? Now, excuse me while I go and remove the default signature from my iPad.
