Thousands of websites hit in mass attack

Hackers are getting more sophisticated and dangerous. Security vendor Websense reports that as many as 40,000 websites have been hacked in order to redirect victims to another website that tries to infect PCs with malicious software.

The plot is complex, according to Carl Leonard, threat research manager for Websense. He told Computerworld that the affected sites have been hacked to host JavaScript code that directs people to a fake Google analytics website.
