Everyone seems to be loving Voice over Internet Protocol, especially those with a criminal intent. Experts report that the latest approach by phishers is to use VoIP services to lure victims into responding to an automated phone message stating there's an issue with a bank account. The victim is told to call a certain number which connects the caller to a voice response system asking the consumer to enter their 16-digit credit card number. Secure Computing has tagged the new scam approach as "vishing," and is urging enterprises to warn employees about the new threat strategy.
