Brand new, customized malware puts enterprises at greatest risk, and up to 50,000 new malware programs are found daily, reports Jeremy Kirk at IDG News. Unfortunately, according to recent research, the major security software firms' products take two days on average to block a malicious website.

The tests were done by NSS Labs, which concluded that many of the major firms are having a hard time keeping pace with the malware. Although security companies provide samples of malware to each other, undetected malicious programs can circulate under the radar. A short time undetected is all it takes to attack an enterprise network, according to the research.

NSS Labs tested 10 products and the report spells out the vendors that performed the worst.  According to the researchers, security companies could do much better when it comes to detecting fresh malware.
