Teri Takai to be named Pentagon CIO

You've seen her in Michigan, you've seen her in California, and now Teri Takai appears to be headed to the Pentagon. The White House said President Obama will nominate Takai, currently CIO for California, to the position of assistant secretary for Networks and Information Integration at the Department of Defense.

Before becoming CIO for California in 2007, Takai was the CIO for Michigan. In both state CIO jobs, Takai took on the task of centralizing IT systems. As noted in the White House announcement, in Michigan she consolidated the state's disparate IT units into one department serving 19 agencies. Takai, former president of the National Association of State CIOs, also worked for Ford Motor Co., EDS and Federal -Mogul Corp. Announcement
