Teleconferences replace travel in lean times

It's probably happened to your shop already. The cost of travel may be too high to send your IT employee on the road for face-time with a client. And like many other companies looking to save money, you are turning to teleconferencing as a way to deal with new budget constraints.

It may not be as good as personal eye-to-eye contact with a client. But in this day and age, it is likely to be the best alternative to running up the budget while keeping projects on track. There are plenty of ways to handle teleconferences, but one rule always holds true: Set aside a specific time and place for the teleconference and make sure all the equipment is working before you start.
