Tech-heavy states back Obama in one unscientific survey
Democrat Barack Obama seems to be outpacing Republican John McCain in the tech world, or at least in many states with high numbers of high technology jobs. That's the unscientific finding based on a survey conducted at 7-Eleven stores where patrons can pick either an Obama or McCain coffee cup.
In California, the store's coffee drinkers are picking Obama coffee cups 64 percent of the time. And in every state that has a large tech-employment base, Obama is winning the coffee cup selection race handily. That includes Texas, New York, Florida, Virginia, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Illinois and New Jersey.
Of course, there are many other reasons for the states' support of Obama--maybe it's the blue color of the cups or Obama's position on other issues not related to technology. But one could imagine that maybe, just maybe, it's the influence of IT workers who are expressing themselves with their morning java.
