Symantec makes a big strategy move
One of the tech industry's leading security vendors is shaking up its business strategy. Symantec is pulling out of the security appliance industry and dumping its current strategy to be a "one-stop security shop" to focus instead on providing heftier services and management. The business strategy included layoffs of about 80 staffers and while the vendor says it will continue to support those devices currently installed, it won't be pushing any more money into future development or expansion of the appliance product line.
