Survey: Measuring performance effectively

Although the vast majority of companies are implementing performance management systems in one or more departments, many aren't realizing the benefits because they don't adopt best practices. According to a survey of more than 1,100 firms by business intelligence vendor SAS, the main cause of failure is that companies tend to deploy performance management systems in departmental silos instead of undertaking an integration project beforehand. Without an enterprise-wide performance management strategy, the result is inefficiency or even conflicting goals. In addition to taking an enterprise-wide approach, companies need to adopt more sophisticated performance management systems instead of the traditional business intelligence approach.
