Cyberattacks are no laughing matter. It's not just the attack that is devastating but the aftermath, as well. A recent poll from security company Symantec found that 98 percent of IT managers surveyed reported tangible losses after being hit by hackers, and 46 percent reported downtime after attacks.

"IT departments are dealing with a perfect storm of problems when it comes to protecting their organizations: The threats are getting worse, losses are mounting," Grant Geyer, vice president of Managed Services at Symantec, told CSO.

The poll also revealed some alarming statistics on the growing frequency of cyberattacks. Some 88 percent of companies surveyed reported a cyberattack in the past two years and 31 percent said they have them on a regular basis.
