Support program revamp could prove costly
If your enterprise is still running legacy Microsoft technology you might want to revisit next year's support and maintenance budget lines. The vendor is revamping its Custom Support Agreement program, which could spike software support costs for customers. The financial impact of the change depends on whether you've got a lot of hardware running Microsoft products. The change from a flat-fee approach to a new per-device pricing structure could prove expensive for enterprises boasting lots of servers or desktops running a particular legacy product. But it could also bring some savings to those organizations which aren't dependent on so much hardware.
